Vancouver, BC – YVRFF, Western Canada’s Premier Virtual Reality Film Festival is back for a second year after its highly successful 2017 launch. Immerse yourself in film like never before through the exhilarating world of VR — where opportunities are endless and you are only limited by your imagination.
From May 18th to the 20th, experience film through innovative technology and from the tip of your nose. After the immense success of last year’s festival — ratified by sold out screenings and high praise from some of VR’s leading creatives — YVRFF is proud to again be featuring an array of acclaimed motion pictures for the 2018 season run.
YVRFF Director Jessica Glass assures audiences, “The caliber of VR films that were a part of the first YVRFF programming line-up are proof of the rapid sophistication VR film-making production is very quickly adopting as the norm. For our return in 2018 we’re excited to be able to provide festival patrons a variety of VR experiences that are sure to delight.” Notably, the festival will be showcasing “Coco VR” Pixar’s stunning debut into virtual reality: an adventure into the Academy Award winning Disney-Pixar film, Coco.
With selections chosen from 19 countries around the globe, YVRFF will see the melding minds and brilliance of the world, including some of the West Coast’s leading VR studios. YVRFF Co-Founder/Executive Producer Leon Ng weighs in, “The balance of being able to screen Academy Award winning and privately produced experiences all within the same festival setting, helps to further position YVRFF as a world class event in the immersive storytelling space.
YVRFF itself is proof of the fact that not only is Vancouver switched on, but also, tuned in; the city’s finger on the pulse of cutting-edge technology and the incredible enhancements rapidly shifting how we experience the art of cinema. To see a story unfold through film is pure enjoyment; to see film in VR is the luxury of lucidity and an uninhibited and profound sensory experience.
With ticket sales already underway and selling quick, YVRFF is excited to continue its enthralling journey into the future of film and technology. Join us, May 18th to 20th at the CBC Studio 700 and become a part of our story.
